It certainly helped having some good weather but the tuition was good and the company was perfect. I think Lewis must have hand picked us as we all got-on so well, right from the start. Lewis certainly knows his way around the Brecon Beacons and him being a London boy too. Not being a natural landscape photographer, I learnt the important requirements even before you press the shutter and will now seek-out some locations in my own back yard. http://www.lewisphillipsimages.com

Looking for a story https://www.johnryland.net/blog/2013/8/looking-for-a-story Silverstone Classic Motor Racing Festival is a great day out for taking snaps. I'm not the worlds most avid motor racing fan so I tend not to take loads of pics of cars hurtling around the track. Instead I keep my eyes open in the garages and you have full access at this event - in fact, you can go right up to the pit lane edge. There is so much activity in the garages you are spoilt for choice. There are lots of colours and shapes but I do keep my eye open for a people story. This picture caught my eye because of the conversation going on. I have no idea what they were talking about. It may have been the splinter stuck in his finger or the cost of coming to Silverstone every year - like me, you can make up your own story. More Silverstone pictures here ... and here

Early Trains in North Wales https://www.johnryland.net/blog/2013/2/early-trains-in-north-wales North Wales is the place to go for narrow gauge steam railways. But I never expected to see live steam so early in the season. The weather this last weekend was fantastic ... cold but dry and some sun. Roads in the Snowdonia National Park were very quiet so the round trip from Dolgellau to Barmouth to Portmadoc was very pleasant and, of course, rounded off nicely with a departing train on the Ffestiniog Railway. The driver looked in good form too! Engineer Drivers WaveEngineer Drivers Wave
